Thread: What's the importance of PINGing sites?

What's the importance of PINGing sites? Can we survive if we don't (manually) PING our sites?

Pinging is just like that you are sending a message to the crawlers or robots that you have make some changes please come and checkout my changes its interesting. Yes, you survive without pinging.....

So if I manually PING, it will take much more time?

i have my sites (WP and Joomla) set up to ping every time i add content either a post or a page .I ping a huge amount of Ping sites ans have a few special plug ins for them also !
I also use pingfarm

Pinging is mandatory for new sites,one can not survive without it.

I also have mine automatically PINGed via feedburner (most Blogger blogs have that). I only do manual ping if the change on the title (when I made a mistake, or wanna change something), doesn't reflect on my feeds immediately.

Mandatory? I never manually PINGed my site when I was new...

Pinging websites sends a message to search engine crawlers that we have updated our website so that crawler crawls our website. It helps in the fast indexing of web pages.If we will not crawl our website then search engines will take time in crawling the website.

Pinging a site means that you are indexing your blog on different web directories.

I would say, from an SEO point of view, that it is better for the search engines to find your website via backlinks than you actually pinging your site to them.
