Depends how competitive the keyword is, you may drop right away, which is why you should keep building links to your micro niche sites, don't just let them sit there and make you money, reinvest in them.
It also depends on what your micro niche is about. For example if it was about the game boy advance then it would be old and useless by now, and if it was about the iphone 4s then it would quickly get old, even if the market is big at the moment. On the other hand, if you have a micro niche that withstands the test of time... (I can't think of any examples), then it can potentially help you earn a lot in the long run.
