hiya people, I am doing a report at college and one of the questions i have to answer is evaluate a couple Operating systems of my choice. I was wondering if any1 could give me any pointers as what windows 2000 and what XP offers.
I know its a wide subject, but I am stuggleing on it abit. I would actually try and use my version of 2000 on my pc but it crashes or doesnt log me in.
I never used windows2000 other than at a job at used to have in a warehouse. The warehouse management system ran on it. It crashed constantly. Dunno much about it other than that.
WinXP on the other hand isn't a bad operating system as far as windows goes. It's pretty stable. I've never had it crash on me. I've never once frozen up. (that might have to do with running an extremely clean system and having a good bit of RAM). The remote assistance feature has come in handy a couple times. Has kept me from having to leave my house to help fix a family members computer. The firewall is pure garbage. Blocks anything and everything, no options. The networking options aren't bad. Very easy to setup a windows network in XP.
It's got automatic updates which is good but has bitten me more than once. There's been more than one instance where my pc has run quite roughly after doing an auto-update.
Overall i'm not real displeased with XP. If I have to run a windows OS.. it's gotta be XP.
